Trade Sector Development Programme: Upgrading Horticulture Supply and Sustainable Tourism to develop business linkages
This project is based on the "UN Trade Cluster" configuration encompassing four implementing agencies (UNIDO, ITC, UNCTAD and the ILO) as implementing agencies with UNOPS as trust fund manager. Under this project, the intervention of the ILO will mainly focus on the inter-agency' needs assessment phase and building of appropriate linkages with the ILO's Entrepreneurship Development and SME support. The area of intervention, i.e. the development of backward linkages between horticulture producers and sustainable tourism industry in a given geographical zone, is similar as compared to the SECO-UN Cluster projects implemented in Lao PDR and Tanzania. The results achieved and lessons learned in Lao PDR and Tanzania, and more specifically the evaluations undertaken in this regard, have been taken into account in order to improve the efficiency and the impact of this assistance, and to tailor all components of the project to the specificities of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
