Les capacités des organisations d'employeurs et de travailleurs de participer efficacement à l'élaboration des politiques sociales et du travail sont accrues

This RBSA-funded intervention focuses on developing the capacity of the social partners to become stronger and more representative and to participate effectively in the processes of developing, implementing or monitoring the National Employment Policy, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) and the Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) 2018-2021. The strategy also includes components relating to the promotion of employment-intensive investment programmes and entrepreneurship and strengthening the social partners’ knowledge and capacities so as to better influence strategic orientations in these areas, particularly with a view to greater opportunities for decent job creation. The initiative will be implemented with the close involvement of the Ministry of Labor, Solidarity, Family and Vocational Training, the Ministry for Public Works, Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Sao Tomé and Principe, the General Workers Union of Sao Tome and Principe, the National Organization of Workers- Sao Tomé and Principe, the National Institute of Social Security and the National Institute of Statistics. By stimulating the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises and creating decent jobs, the results of the intervention will contribute towards several SDG targets, including SDG target 8.2 (Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading and innovation, including through a focus on high-value added and labour-intensive sectors), SDG target 8.3 (Promote development-oriented policies that support productive activities, decent job creation, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, and encourage the formalization and growth of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, including through access to financial services) and SDG target 8.5 (By 2030, achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value).
