More and Better Jobs through Socially Responsible Practices in Pakistan - Phase III

The project will build on the outcomes of Phases I and II, notably the Tripartite Plus dialogue platform (task force) which will continue to promote dialogue and joint action to promote decent work through socially responsible labour practices in the industry. Training sessions to be organized will address the priority decent work challenges, i.e. OSH, productivity and women’s economic empowerment. Besides working with the tripartite constituents in organizing tripartite-plus meetings on specific issues and promoting experience sharing within Sialkot, the Employers' Federation of Pakistan (EFP) is keen to share the Sialkot experience with other industries in the country. The experience in Sialkot will also be shared in the context of a unique partnership between the ILO and the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The annual Sustainability Forums, jointly organized by the ILO and Tokyo 2020, will provide such opportunities. Given the notable outcomes of Phases I and II, EFP sees the need to share and replicate the lessons learnt from Sialkot with other export-oriented industries; however phase III focuses on Sialkot with the aim of further strengthening the SCCI and EFP members in their capacity and presenting the good practices to other industries including how they eliminated child labour form the industry; how industry is working to promote Women Economic Empowerment etc.
