Filling data and knowledge gaps on OSH in GSCs to strengthen the model of shared responsibility

The project will undertake pioneering work in the field of OSH and GSCs in seeking to: (i) fill the current knowledge gap in the incidence of fatal and non-fatal occupational accidents, injuries and diseases in developing countries, particularly in VZF project countries; (ii) support the model of shared responsibility that underpins VZF Strategy 2.0 by informing stakeholder discussions and facilitating the development of industry-wide strategies to address the most persistent OSH challenges; (iii) raise awareness amongst stakeholders of the extent to which data on occupational accidents, injuries and diseases is underreported, and generate commitments to urgently address OSH issues in GSCs; (iv) facilitate the development of new and / or strengthened reporting and notification systems and local constituents’ capacities to collect and utilize OSH data and; (v) support the VZF in monitoring progress towards the Fund’s overall development objective and desired impact through the establishment of sound baseline information that could be tracked over time.
