Innovation to Inclusion
The ILO promotes the inclusion of the Washington Group on Disability Statistics methodology in the application of labour force surveys (LFS) and other surveys with relevance for labour market data. Furthermore, the ILO is developing a dedicated module on persons with disabilities to be used in LFS. The project's objectives are to: a) provide capacity building to staff of the Ministry of Planning, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Ministry of Social Welfare on the collection and analysis of disability-disaggregated data with relevance for the employment and social protection of persons with disabilities. This will include the application of the dedicated module on persons with disabilities to be used in a Bangladesh LFS and guidance on the analysis of the data gathered; b) will provide capacity building to staff of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection Kenya, State Department for Social Protection, and the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) on the collection and analysis of disability-disaggregated data with relevance for the employment and social protection of persons with disabilities. This will include the analysis of the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census from a disability inclusion perspective and the dissemination of the analysis' results. Based on the experience of the ILO Global Business and Disability Network in promoting national business and disability networks in developing countries, the ILO will engage the private sector in Kenya to establish a Kenya Business and Disability Network (KBDN).
