REDUCING THE RISK OF IRREGULAR MIGRATION THROUGH EMPLOYMENT PROMOTION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP SUPPORT FOR YOUTH

The project aims to promote youth employment and entrepreneurship for young women and men in Sierra Leone. The main objective is to empower young women and men returnees and potential migrants to establish sustainable and flourishing businesses as a means to access job opportunities for themselves and create employment opportunities for others. Through capacity building in entrepreneurship management programmes such as Gender and Entrepreneurship Together (GET-Ahead) and Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) the project aims to empower young women and men with vocational skills to respond to labour market demand; thereby expanding national economic opportunities in the country. The project is implemented in collaboration with International Organization for Migration (IOM) across four districts in Sierra-Leone: Bo, Kono, Western Urban and Kailahun, targeting a minimum of 240 entrepreneurs of which at least 140 are women.
