AU-EU Skills for Youth Employability Programme Component 2: Skills Initiative for Africa – funded by the EU

The Action is part of the German regional cooperation with the AUC and NEPAD/AUDA and the AU EU Skills for Youth Employability Programme. The action aims at imporoiving occupational prospects of young Africans through the support of job-.orientated skills programme. While the SIFA Financing Facility focuses on market-orientated and innovative TVET programmes the current action is aimed at create stronger continental dialogue platforms for learning, innovation, cooperation and mutual recognition of competences. The objective is that African labour market information systems and qualification frameworks and PAN African platforms/formats for dialogue and sharing of best practices are strengthened. The action focuses on 6 outputs: Output 1(Dialogue): Stronger continental (regional) dialogue platforms and/or formats for learning, innovation, and cooperation are established. Output 2 (Knowledge Base): Knowledge base and inventory of good practices and TVET products is established. Output 3 (Labour Market Information): Capacities of AUC, NEPAD/AUDA, RECs and national authorities for labour market forecasts and skills need anticipation systems are enhanced. Output 4 (Private Sector): Continental structures for promoting private sector involvement in TVET are established. Output 5 (ACQF): A concept, feasibility study and action plan for the African Qualifications Framework is technically validated. Output 6 (Internal Capacities): Capacities of AUC and NEPAD/AUDA to steer the continental and regional skills development and youth employment agenda are strengthened.
