Strengthening Labour Market Information Systems and Methodologies for Post-disaster Needs Assessments in the Pacific Island Countries (LMIA4PDNA)
The project's objectives are to improved national labour statistics supporting Employment, Livelihoods and Social Protection Sector (ELSP) indicators of the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA). This is achieved directly by the ILO and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) through the National Statistics Office, through a mixture of full Pacific Labour Force Survey (LFS) roll out for some countries and labour market update using recent surveys for the rest of the countries. The project will also increase the capacity of ILO constituents to conduct ELSP assessments of the PDNA. The direct recipients will use the update labour statistics as baselines in the training to develop credible PDNA and recovery frameworks. Finally the project will establish formal systems and process for engagement of ILO tripartite constituents, including national statistics offices, in national PDNA and recovery efforts. Based on the learnings from the national training coupled with national experiences in past disasters, direct recipients will develop and formalize a national system and processes that will allow effective engagement in future disasters.
