Better Work Bangladesh Phase II– Gender (USDOL)

With this funding, the US Department of labour supports the implementation of the Better Work gender strategies in Bangladesh, Cambodia and Vietnam. These interventions align with and support the three goals of the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity (WGDP) initiative: 1. Women prospering in the workforce: advancing women in the workforce by improving access to quality and education and skills training, enabling women to secure jobs in their local economies; 2. Women succeeding as enterpreneurs: promoting women’s entrepreneurship and increasing access to capital, markets, technical assistance and mentorship; and 3. Women enabled in the economy: identifying and reducing the legal, regulatory and cultural barriers that constrain women’s full and free participation in the global economy, and promoting improved practices. In Bangladesh, the project has the following outcomes: Outcome 1: BWB staff capacity is increased to deliver services that effectively promote garment industry free of barriers for all genders. Outcome 2: Women are supported to prosper in the workplace Outcome 3: Enabling environment is created at the factory, sectoral and national levels for women’s full and free participation in the garment sector.
