Improving Social Protection and Inclusion of the Elderly through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs)

The general objective of this project is to increase social inclusion and protection for the elderly, through strengthening community networks and improving access to the various programmes, services and social benefits available to them. This project proposes, through a community system of support networks that is based on a digital platform, to activate and/or strengthen elderly people’s social connections, addressing the barriers that prevent them from fully participating in society and exercising all their rights. This will be achieved by creating a community platform, through which the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), places the integral welfare of the elderly at the center of its concerns. The project will have a specific focus on women within this age group and on rural sectors, complementing State programs, incorporating the community as a central part of the social protection system for these people, as a way to leave no one behind.
