Development of a Social Protection Outlook for Asia and the Pacific

The project aims at contributing to assess regional progresses in the area of social protection and provide additional evidence for a dialogue on how the Asia and the Pacific region can progress towards the objectives established under the SDG framework, with a specific focus on SDG Indicator 1.3.1. To reach these objectives, the project is structured around the development of a report - "Social Protection Outlook in Asia and the Pacific 2020" – which measures regional progresses, gaps and proposes strategies and actions to close those gaps by 2030. Through a partnership with UNICEF and UN-ESCAP, and a strict linkage with the ILO Flagship Report World Social Protection Report, the research is expected to provide a comprehensive assessment of the current state of social protection systems, their legal and effective coverage, level of benefits and expenditures in Asia and Pacific.
