Developing an integrated social protection model in the region of Guidmakha, Mauritania

This project aims to improve the national social protection strategy and programs and to propose a more holistic model, more coherent and feasible for extension to other regions or for scaling up nationally. A series of studies will be undertaken in order to provide key policy recommendations to Mauritanian policy makers. Among these studies, it is planned to carry out an actuarial evaluation of the funds with different scenarios for the extension of social protection. A feasibility study will be undertaken to expand access to health care in Guidimakha. A complementary study to the actuarial valuation will also be undertaken in order to identify the main challenges to be met with a view to expanding access to social insurance.
