Development of Industrial Relations in the Context of Future of Work (Promoting Social Dialogue and Sound Industrial Relations: Towards Peaceful Settlement of Labour Disputes)
The project aims to build national constituents capacity in Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar to research, analyse and assess the impacts of the future of work on workforce requirements and industrial relations in key sectors exposed to technological disruption; and to build constituent knowledge and capacity on effective models for social dialogue at enterprise level in this age of transformation. Despite progress in recent years, industrial disputes and decent work deficits in all three countries constrain the private sector’s ability to generate employment, innovation and decent work. In this respect, there is a need to further improve the capacity of staff in employer’s and worker’s organizations to provide effective assistance and advisory services at factory level when labour disputes occur, whether over rights or interests. To inform this work, there is the need for statistics, research and knowledge on changing workforce requirements and industrial relations in key sectors. The overall objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity of Employer and Business Membership Organizations, as well as of Workers’ Organization for more effective and impactful engagement in social and economic policy discussion and service development in relation to the future of work. To achieve this end, the project employs a mix of research and analysis, training and capacity building for social dialogue and workplace cooperation, and support for development of effective membership services.
