REFLECT Project: Research on Forced Labour Eradication Cost
In 2015 member states adopted SDG Target 8.7 committing to “take effective measures to eradicate forced labour, modern slavery, human trafficking by 2030 and child labour in all its forms by 2025”. At a time when political actors globally are significantly stepping up levels of engagement in putting an end to forced labour, modern slavery, human trafficking and child labour, it is essential that they are provided with more evidence-based direction in where their resources and efforts need to be targeted. Yet, some of the most pressing questions remain: 1. How much does it cost to end forced labour? 2. How do costs differ between countries and for various types of interventions? 3. Where can policy actors direct resources, domestically and internationally, in order to make the biggest impact on eradication? This research aims to answer these questions.
