Projet régional conjoint de soutien à la coopération transfrontalière dans la région de Liptako-Gourma
The joint United Nations project aims at supporting the Liptako Gourma Authority in its efforts to strengthen the resilience of the communities and human security. The project consists in implementing cross-border activities in order to cope with the environmental, security and socio-economic shocks that currently characterize the Lipkako Gourma region. The project is coordinated by the UNDP. ILO is responsible for a component related to decent jobs creation. More specifically, the ILO mandate is to identify a value chain with high potential for employment creation, the different opportunities and constraints in terms of employment and the required labour market-based skills. Special attention is also given to the potential of green jobs. Subsequently, entrepreneurship support is expected to be provided to 300 (young) women to create and manage businesses and cooperatives, as well as short-term skills training to at least 200 young men and women in the identified value chain. In addition, the project provides for the creation of direct and temporal jobs for marginalized youth through a small-scale employment intensive infrastructure project in an economic sector with high potential for employment creation.
