Increased capacity of member states to set adequate wages and promote decent working time

The project aims at strengthening the knowledge base on wage-setting through collective bargaining with a view to informing and building the capacity of social partners to better identify, at country level, sources, to improve their analytical skills and to make use of evidence to inform wage negotiations. A global review of various data sources, indicators and other information used in negotiations, as well as more qualitative information on how these sources are used by social partners in different countries to support collective bargaining, will provide social partners with additional tools and knowledge in support of those negotiations. It may also foster improvements to collective bargaining policies, procedures, or mechanisms at various levels in target countries. The project will also facilitate knowledge sharing, capacity building and awareness raising on working time. This will be done with a view to providing policy and regulatory assistance to constituents at country level. Workshops are envisaged at the subregional level (planned in Central America and East and Southeast Asia and the Pacific) and aim to increase the capacity of ILO constituents to develop, implement, and promote policies and regulations on working time and working time arrangements to better support work-life balance while taking account of enterprise needs, including via collective bargaining.
