Apprenticeships Development for Universal lifelong Learning and Training (ADULT)

In meeting the challenges of a fast changing world of work, this project aims to generate new ideas and policy options to modernise apprenticeships. The project will explore how apprenticeship systems are being modernised to promote lifelong learning and decent work that allows youth and adults (both employed and unemployed) to participate effectively in work-based learning schemes like apprenticeships to acquire new skills and update existing ones, thereby facilitating their access to and transitions in the labour market. Furthermore, through strengthening constituents' knowledge capacity in developing and modernizing apprenticeship systems, the project will also support the ILO's efforts in developing a new international labour standard on apprenticeships.
