ProMaroc – Promotion of Decent Work in Agribusiness

ProMaroc is part of an ILO multi-country program designed as part of the Special Initiative on training and job creation of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). This project puts forward an integrated strategy, combining policy support and social dialogue, skills development, value chain development and entrepreneurship training, with the ultimate objective to create decent jobs opportunities for women and young men in the Moroccan agribusiness sector. The project develops the capacity of national, regional, and local stakeholders to develop and implement policies aimed at boosting the job creation potential of the agribusiness sector while enhancing decent work conditions. The programme also contributes to responding to and mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on enterprises and the labour market in the targeted sector. ProMaroc aims to achieve the following results: Result 1: A more conducive ecosystem in the selected region for decent jobs creation and sustainable investment; Result 2: Selected value chains in the agribusiness sector are more competitive and have boosted their job creation potential; Result 3: Skills in agro-processing clusters are strengthened for greater productivity and employability; and Result 4: Young women and men have access to more entrepreneurship opportunities in the agribusiness sector. The project builds on regional employment plans and associated actors who have received ILO support. The direct beneficiaries of the project include the Ministries of Labour and Professional Integration, Agriculture, Industry and Trade as well as the agencies linked to it, the professional federations of the relevant sectors, as well as workers’ and employers’ representatives.
