Enhanced capacity of the Government and social partners to promote compliance with the national legislation and to reduce the worst forms of child labour
This intervention contributes to strengthening the institutional capacity of the labour inspectorate on OSH in Syrian Arab Republic so that it plays an effective role in monitoring working conditions and environment and in promoting fundamental principles and rights at work, particularly in sectors and workplaces with women dominance and high child labour incidence. It also addresses social partners’ capacity needs to enable them to engage in effective social dialogue, to help promote compliance with the national labour legislation and relevant international labour standards. The intervention is implemented by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour and the social partners in cooperation with the ILO and its International Training Centre in Turin. The expected end-result of this intervention is improved working conditions and OSH in terms of protected labour rights, decreased labour disputes and reduced work-related accidents, injuries and diseases.
