Effective industrial relations to improve working conditions and productivity.
The intervention aims to strengthen bipartite mechanisms (institutions and processes for workplace consultations and cooperation, and dispute resolution) in Indonesia to enable businesses to operate safely and productively and workers to have a safe working environment. The ILO provides technical advice and facilitates constituent-led social dialogue for joint action promoting business sustainability and decent work. It also provides support for the ratification of the Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 1981 (No. 155) and for addressing the comments raised by the ILO supervisory bodies on the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 2006 (No. 187). The main beneficiaries of the intervention are the Ministry of Manpower, the Employers’ Association of Indonesia (APINDO) and workers’ organizations. The expected end-results include the revitalization of National Tripartite Bodies and an improved system for dispute resolution. Guidelines are established by employers’ and workers’ organizations to support workplace consultations and cooperation as a tool to foster safe and productive workplaces, and for the examination and resolution of grievances at the enterprise level. Progress is expected towards the ratification of Convention No. 155.
