Increased capacities of constituents to develop and implement an integrated policy response on employment and social protection, supported by social dialogue.
This intervention seeks to strengthen the links between employment opportunities and social protection to address COVID-19 challenges in Tajikistan. The ILO provides technical assistance to develop a national employment strategy to enable livelihoods and employment opportunities for the registered unemployed. It also supports the development of an institutional framework and service delivery mechanism on social protection to address the needs of informal economy workers and women workers. The partners are the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of Population, , the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Agency for Labour and Employment (PES), Social Protection Agency, Federation of Independent Trade Unions and the Union of Employers. The ultimate beneficiaries are workers in informal employment in formal enterprises, unemployed, especially young people, women, persons with disabilities and disadvantaged groups. The expected results include the following: (1) an integrated policy response on employment and social protection is available; (2) intergovernmental coordination mechanisms on social protection and employment are strengthened; and (3) social protection programmes are extended to informal economy workers, the self-employed and workers in non-standard forms of employment.
