Women's Entrepreneurship Accelerator
The Women’s Entrepreneurship Accelerator (WEA) is an initiative supported by Mary Kay that brings together six United Nations agencies to foster women’s entrepreneurship development. Through this one year (2020-2021) project, the ILO contributes to research and advocacy for a more conducive business environment for women entrepreneurs in Brazil and Mexico, and informs interventions by other UN agencies involved in the WEA initiative. By conducting national assessments of the framework conditions for women’s entrepreneurship development, the ILO supports national stakeholders and key actors to identify targeted and strategic recommendations to improve the business environment. In Brazil, the project is implemented in the state of Mato Grosso and builds on the ongoing assessment being developed in the framework of the WIN-WIN project. Activities focus on strengthening advocacy and stakeholder engagement through stakeholder dialogues. In Mexico, the project conducts an assessment of the framework conditions for women’s entrepreneurship development in selected sectors and supports key stakeholders to develop and implement actionable recommendations, with a focus on COVID-19 response and recovery.
