Promoting Sustainable Enterprises in India (PSEI)
The PSEI project focusses on boosting local economic growth by promoting sustainable enterprises, in alignment to ILO Decent Work Agenda, to generate more and better quality jobs and strengthening integration of MSMEs in the supply chain in two sectors –food processing, especially, fishery and, textiles and garments, in two states, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. It envisages doing this through enhancing capacity of policy makers, workers and employers’ organizations to create an enabling ecosystem, and supporting directly MSMEs in upgradation of management practices, promotion of entrepreneurship and market opportunities through B2B between India and Korea. The project will engage with local institutions in the two selected states, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, to support in strengthening design and delivery of business development services by demonstrating application of ILO tools, SCORE and SIYB. SCORE will support in enhancing productivity in MSMEs and SIYB will support in coaching potential entrepreneurs, especially among women, to start new businesses and integrate in the global supply chain, especially, South Korea. Additionally, a cadre of ILO trained BDS providers will be developed for the State institutions and industry associations, to engage them in the effective delivery of services. Special endeavors will be made to promote gender equality in workplaces in terms of recruitment, remuneration and promotion as well as conducive work environment for women in the SCORE trained MSMEs.
