Teaching and the teaching profession in a digital world: COVID-19 and beyond
The ILO-GIZ project "Teaching and the teaching profession in a digital world: COVID-19 and beyond" aims to produce new knowledge to enhance the capacities of education actors to integrate digitalization strategies in ways that both address the digital divide and ensure that teachers have a say in changes impacting their profession. The project is conducting research on the impact of digitalization in education and on the teaching profession, including in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, and its potential contributions for decent work and quality education for all in six countries. The project studies analyze country-specific conditions, experiences, practices, policies and medium- and long-term plans on digitalization in education. Based on the findings of the studies and conclusions from national workshops, policy recommendations for digitalization in education will be developed. The project also supports social dialogue between governments, employers’ and workers’ organisations and other education stakeholders for adopting recommendations to leverage technology for teaching and learning towards ensuring decent work for teachers and educators and equitable and inclusive quality education for all. The main beneficiaries of the project are government ministries or bodies responsible for education and labour, employers’ and workers’ representatives in the education sector and other education stakeholders.
