Promotion of Decent Employment and Livelihoods for Young and Women Coffee Farmers through Environmentally Sustainable Productions of Specialty and Organic Coffee
PROJECT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The project aims to promote decent work and improve the living and working conditions for small producers of organic forest coffee in the Danu Special Administrative Area, Shan State. The project provides innovative services to workers’ organisations in order to strengthen their capacity. With the active participation of the target beneficiaries, local coffee farmers in Danu Ethnic Township, the project is implemented in full partnership with the AFFM-CTUM and IBI under the oversight and technical guidance of ACTRAV. This project builds the capacity of AFFM-CTUM coffee section and provide training and awareness which helps to involve other villages of small coffee producers including empowerment of women through training and awareness-raising on various topics. For the economic and social empowerment of small farmers through production of quality coffee and promotion of eco-tourism, project supports to improve competiveness and strengthen organizational structures through innovative forms of support for small farmers in terms of production, processing and marketing capacity, such as the Farmers' Coffee House. In collaboration with companies engaged in the use of socially and environmentally sustainable coffee, project also supports the marketing of organic coffee (made with fairness to the earth and farmers).
