Generation Unlimited: Roll out of the Gen U Bangladesh strategy and support to achievement of targets under ILO led component of work
Generation Unlimited (GenU) Bangladesh was launched in 2019, as a Government led initiative and public private sector driven multi-stakeholder platform, formed by government, 15 industry associations representing more than 500 national businesses, UN agencies, NGO representatives and youth groups. GenU Bangladesh is chaired by the former Principal SDG Coordinator of the Prime Minister’s Office with support and technical assistance from UNICEF, World Bank, ILO, BRAC and a2i as key partners. With a focus on modernizing and connecting Secondary Education and Training to Entrepreneurship and Employment opportunities, the overall vision of GenU Bangladesh is to ensure that every young person, become productive and engaged members of society. Over the next five years, the aim of GenU Bangladesh is to close the gap between education and training outcomes and labour market needs by connecting Secondary Education and Training to Entrepreneurship and Employment opportunities for more than 17 million girls and boys, young women and men, aged 10 – 24.
