Country Assessment on the Impact of COVID-19 to Child Labour and working children towards the Implementation of the NPA to Eliminate Child Labour and Promote Decent Work for working children (14-17 years) in Lao PDR
To understand the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the household labour force and child labour in Lao PDR, the ILO is proposing to support Lao PDR in developing its tripartite capacity in collecting national data for the 2nd National child labour survey and 3rd labour force survey, including an analysis on the impact of COVID-19 on child labour and working children (14-17) in concentrated sectors – agriculture and hospitality. The results of the survey and analysis will then provide evidence for national advocacy on the impacts of the COVID-19 on child labour and working children in Lao PDR, contribute to strengthen the implementation of the National Plan of Action to Eliminate Child Labour and Promote Decent Work for Youth in Lao PDR. Specifically, the proposed project entails: • National Child labour and labour force survey, with a focus on child labour and working children aged 14-17 years in agriculture and in the hospitality sector and on the impact of COVID19. • Strengthened tripartite capacity to conduct national analysis on child labour and impacts of COVID-19 on child labour and working children (14-17 years). • Increased public awareness on child labour and impacts of COVID-19 on child labour and working children (14-17).
