UN’s partnership to advance the implementation of CRPD and disability inclusive SDGs in Bangladesh- inception phase-" (MPTF UNPRPD)

The UN system in Bangladesh has been collaborating closely with Organizations working for Persons With Disabilities (OPDs) and the government in accelerating the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and disability inclusive Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To further strengthen the collaboration, UN agencies working on this area in Bangladesh, has an opportunity to participate in the UNPRPD MPTF Fourth Funding Call. The United Nations Partnership on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Multi-Partner Trust MPTF (UNPRPD MPTF) is a unique partnership that brings together UN entities, governments, OPDs, and broader civil society to advance the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and disability inclusive Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the country level around the world. It was established in 2011 to foster collaboration between its members and support their work disability inclusion through UN join programming. Since 2012, UNPRPD MPTF has supported over 49 joint UN programs in 39 countries across regions, mobilizing over $40 million USD. This is the inception phase implementation where the UN task team in Bangladesh (currently coordinated by UNRCO and comprised of the ILO, UNICEF, UNDP, UNFPA and UNWOMEN) has nominated the ILO as the lead agency for the implementation phase. The task will review implementation process at each step. This task team will op-opt representatives from OPDs, as and when required, for necessary reviews of draft outputs and implementation strategy. The task team intends to work in close cooperation with the relevant ministries from the government of Bangladesh, civil society, development partners, private sector and OPDs to advance the implementation of CRPD and disability inclusive SDGs.
