Proyecto de apoyo a la Iniciativa Regional América Latina y el Caribe libre de Trabajo Infantil para fortalecer la respuesta a la crisis de la COVID-19 (PAIR VII)

The project to support the Regional Initiative for a Child Labor-Free Latin America and the Caribbean and to strengthen the response to the COVID-19 crisis (PAIR VII), is part of Phase II of the Initiative and its Strategic Plan 2018-2021, as well as the beginning of Phase III. With the participation of various development partners, the focus is on strengthening the South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) modality, both between countries and decentralized, with the aim of improving the effectiveness of the intervention through the management of jointly generated knowledge and the exchange of experiences. And all this through the tripartite dialogue that characterizes the ILO. In the process of implementing the Child Labor Risk Identification Model (MIRTI), it contributes to the territorialization of the SDGs, mainly target 8.7, promoting the adoption of policy measures that reduce the disparity of opportunities and allow differential access to public services in the municipalities, prioritizing exposed population groups and productive sectors, based on the public supply of social programs and services, and promoting vertical articulation between levels of government and horizontal articulation between institutions and key actors, all to accelerate the reduction of child labor. All of the project's actions are aimed at strengthening the countries' response to COVID-19 and incorporating the child labor issue into policies for recovery from the socio-economic crisis generated by the pandemic. The project also promotes an exchange of SSC with Africa, taking advantage of the solutions tested in the context of the countries of both regions. The aim is to facilitate the adaptation and transfer of knowledge, tools, methodologies and practices that contribute to overcoming the challenges posed by child labor, from an approach based on the strengthening of policies and public institutions, and on partnerships between countries. The project has a regional coverage of 30 countries through exchanges of experiences and assistance, from an approach based on strengthening policies and promoting vertical articulation between levels of government and horizontal articulation between institutions and key actors, but will concentrate its interventions in: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Paraguay and Peru.
