ILS compliance in electronic sector in Vietnam

In Viet Nam, the ILO has supported government and social partners working to prepare a new industrial relations framework based on recognition of freedom of association and collective bargaining. As the major engine of economic growth in the country, the electronics industry can set a good example by embracing the new labour relations framework as an opportunity to achieve better productivity and working conditions. The ILO-Apple project develops and implements programmes that build on what ILO has already achieved in close collaboration with national tripartite actors and key stakeholders (MNEs, suppliers, their associations, trade unions, independent researchers and NGOs) in the electronics industry. The project takes advantage of recent labour law and industrial relations reforms to help drive better productivity, safe workplaces and resilient and socially responsible supply chains through genuine social dialogue. The project is expected to kick start in June 2021 and will coordinate closely with other ILO technical cooperation projects including Sustainable Supply Chain and Build Back Better Project, Better Work Vietnam and NIRF project for synergies.
