Promoting access to digital jobs for persons with disabilities in five Asian countries
The project is mapping in Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia and the Philippines what National Business and Disability Networks and associated disability service providers need to do differently if people with disabilities, including women with disabilities, are to acquire in demand digital qualifications. The project determines which enabling tools, products, resources would make it easier for local employers to recruit people with disabilities into digital jobs; for mainstream and/or specialist training providers to meet the needs and expectations of job seekers/trainees with disabilities, in partnership with employers; for National Business and Disability Networks to build their capacity to facilitate “Digital in Demand” and related labour market interventions. Further, the project is mapping policies and practices which funders use to encourage disability inclusive digital training strategies and to identify options for funders seeking to more effectively leverage their influence – with a view to pilot “Digital in Demand” initiatives, based on the mapping results.
