Awareness and training for insurance against natural catastrophes

GIZ is working with partners in India to develop a NatCat insurance product on MFI customer-level is to provide better coping strategies against natural disasters like droughts, floods, cyclones and earthquakes, to the microfinance borrowers. For this project, GIZ and ILO will work together to raise awareness about the risks of Natural Catastrophe (NatCat) events among the customers of Micro Finance Institutions (MFI) on how NatCat insurance works and its benefits, and to conceptualize a training manual for MFI loan officers.
