A Road to Decent Jobs for All Afghans (R2J4All)-Year II

The Road to Decent Jobs for All Afghans (R2DJ4ALL) is a two-year project implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Balkh Province with funding from the US Department of States (USDoS). The first year of implementation was from 1 October 2020 to 31 September 2021 and further extended to December 2021, with funding of USD $967,817. The second year of Implementation will start 1 January 2022 to 31 January 2023 and funded to the tune of USD$1,128,233.11. The project implementation continues to leverage on the networks and knowledge on successes of, Road to Jobs (R2J) project. The R2DJ4ALL follows a market systems development (MSD) approach and develop partnerships with local businesses run by and/or employing returnee refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in potential employment opportunity creation subsectors. MSD approaches are used to address important underlying constraints inhibiting better growth and employment outcomes, which in turn contribute to improving livelihoods and poverty reduction. In conformity to MSD good practice the project will establish a monitoring and results measurement (MRM) system based on the Donor Conference on Enterprise Development (DCED) principles to support performance measurement and inform key decisions and adaptive management practices R2DJ4All is a two-year project funded by the United States Department of State (USDoS) that seeks to foster improved access to decent work opportunities, sustainable livelihoods, and economic resilience and peace for all Afghans. The immediate objectives are: Objective 1: More Afghan refugee returnees have accessed income-earning opportunities in high-potential economic sectors Objective 2: Afghans, especially women, refugee returnees and IDPs are in safe and dignifying employment in competitive and resilient value chains. The project targets returnees, IDPs and their host communities in and around Mazar-I-Sharif, Balkh District ofAfghanistan. R2DJ4All project aims to facilitate change in a small number of sectors that are important to the economic livelihoods of these target groups.
