Promoting Implementation of ILO Standards in Pacific Island Countries
The proposed project, ‘Promoting implementation of ILO Standards in Pacific Island Countries’ assists PICs to better position themselves to pursue a human-centred approach to development. The tripartite constituents in each country are the direct project beneficiaries. They are integral to the studies to be carried out, and to the development and implementation of action plans and new policies. They are the participants in the capacity-building and knowledge-sharing activities. Employers, workers and all who live and work in the PICs are the secondary beneficiaries, as new policies for growth and development bear fruit. The outputs delivered by the project promote the achievement of the following outcomes: 1. Outcome 1: PICs benefit from strengthened legal and policy frameworks relating to international labour standards. 2. Outcome 2: Governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations are more consistently and comprehensively implementing ILS.
