Decent jobs and work in Nature-based Solutions: A bi-annual update report on the emerging nature conservation and restoration economy
ILO and UNEP will co-lead the publication of a global bi-annual report series on decent jobs and work in NbS, in close collaboration with other partners, including IUCN2, FAO, IFAD the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration Finance Task Force (led by World Bank), and the Green Jobs Assessment Institutions Network (GAIN). This bi-annual report will address the knowledge gap of how investments in NbS can create decent jobs in support of a Just Transition towards environmentally sustainable economies and societies for all. The purpose of this proposal is to request co-funding from the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) for the design, drafting, translation, copyediting, graphic design, publication and (partial) translation of the first report of the series. This report will be published in October 2022 in order to be available and widely shared with counterparts during COP 27 (7-18 November 2022), and will serve as the basis for the long-term development of the bi-annual report series. This work aims to reach as many relevant institutions and actors operating in the sector as possible. Moreover, this report will be finalised and published in the lead up to the COP 27 with the aim of maximizing its impact by informing discussion on NbS at the COP. At the launch event it is anticipated that the report will be presented and become accessible to representatives from governments, international organizations, research institutions and civil society. The aim is to reach at least 350 people through the launch event. In addition, through the publication of the report on the ILO and UNEP website, accompanied by a social media strategy also supported by members of the Steering Committee, it is expected that the report will reach at least 5,000 views within the first three months of its launch.
