Supporting the design of innovative ALMPs for the post-crisis recovery in Uzbekistan (SDG targets 8.5; 8.6).
The RBSA-funded intervention adopts a comprehensive approach in further developing and strengthening the capacity of government, social partners and other stakeholders to assess, develop and implement socio-economic programmes, targeted at employment-intensive economic recovery in the post-pandemic period, through mechanisms of social dialogue while enhancing gender equity and women’s empowerment. The target groups are the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan (FTUU), and the Confederation of Employers of Uzbekistan (CEU). Other partners include the Tripartite Commission on Social and Labour Issues and its members, vocational training centres and career guidance centres under the MELR, Public Employment Services, and other government bodies as relevant. The expected results include: increased capacity of national constituents to develop and implement socio-economic policies/programmes and strategies to facilitate the economic recovery, with a focus on employment of youth and women; increased capacity of national tripartite bodies and their representatives to meaningfully engage in social dialogue on issues related to the assessment, design and implementation of the above socio-economic policies/programmes and strategies; improved effectiveness of the National Skills Council; improved social dialogue in the management of public Vocational Education and Training colleges; and improved implementation of policies and programmes promoting decent work for young men and women.
