Workplace Compliance through Labour Inspection Guidance and Social Dialogue (WPC) The project aims to contribute to the creation of a more Decent Work Environment for all Women and Men in Türkiye with an intended result of improving the workplace compliance at enterprise level with an aim to contribute to the impact of reduction of the number of days per workers incapacitated due to accidents and a reduction in extensive weekly working hours of the private sector workers (impact indicators). Labour administration and inspection, plays a crucial role in protecting workers, supporting the implementation of International Labour Standards and creating enabling environment conditions for decent job creation and sustainable enterprises by supporting social dialogue, developing labour-related policies and modernizing labour inspection systems. In Türkiye, Directorate of Guidance and Inspection has a critical role in contributing to labour peace by acting as a bridge between social partners in terms of both working conditions and working environment by examining the working conditions and working environment. In this regard, the project aims to improve the effectiveness of the Directorate of Guidance and Inspection through a multi-pronged approach. The project on the other hand will increase the technical capacities of social partners and relevant institutions along with the Directorate of Guidance and Inspection on International Labour Standards, EU Acquis and national labour legislation with an equality and rights-based approach. Furthermore, strategic and digital adaptation of guidance and inspection services will be facilitated. Another dimension of the project focuses more on guidance services to improve workplace compliance and raising awareness of all related parties on decent work. The compliance in elaborately selected sectors, in consultation with social partners with an equality and rights-based and market systems approach, will be improved. Guidance function of the DoGI will be strengthened to also serve this aim. Moreover, awareness of institutions, social partners, the private sector and the general public on decent work will be increased. Furthermore, cross-sectoral dialogue mechanisms including comprehensive form of stakeholders will be processed while the guidance project model and plan at the value chain of selected sectors are being implemented. Based on the mentioned objectives, it is assumed that project will produce positive impact in developing a sound labour inspection system that improves employees’ working conditions at work, promote their rights, as well as ensure sustainable economic growth. Sound, inclusive and efficient labour inspection systems that is in line with respective international labour standards and national legislations, will help to ensure decent working conditions for women and men workers in all sectors, prevent informality, poor working conditions and weak occupational safety and health environment. The ILO’s Guidelines on General Principles of Labour Inspection will also of a crucial role in providing technical guidance on key principles of labour inspection contained in the ILO Conventions Nos. 81 and 129.
