Skills Development and Responsible Business Conduct for Transition_Thailand and Indonesia components
The ILO/Japan project entitles “Skills Development and Responsible Business Conduct(Indonesia and Thailand component)” funded by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) aims to 1) provide skills development to enhance workers’ responsiveness and productivity for structural transformation to a sustainable economy, including respect for human rights, which is consistent with the country’s development priorities ; 2) promote responsible business conduct including corporate activities in harmony with the country’s development priorities and respect for the principles of international labour standards; and 3) promote an environment to contribute towards a transition to resilient supply chains from the perspectives of trade and investment. The project focuses on supply chains in the machinery sector, particularly the automotive industries and Electrical & Electronics (E&E) in Indonesia and Thailand The project contributes to the UN SDG 8 on employment and decent work for all, in particular to Target 8.2: Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading and innovation, including through a focus on high-value added and labour-intensive sectors. Target 8.3: Promote development-oriented policies that support productive activities, decent job creation, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, and encourage the formalization and growth of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, including through access to financial services. Target 8.5: Achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value and Target 8.8: Protect labour rights and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers, including migrant workers, in particular women migrants, and those in precarious employment. With the ILO's Programme and budget for 2022-23, the project contributes to Outcome 3: Economic, social and environmental transitions for full, productive and freely chosen employment and decent work for all. Outcome 4: Sustainable enterprises as generators of employment and promoters of innovation and decent work. Outcome 5: Skills and lifelong learning to facilitate access to and transitions in the labour market, and Outcome 7: Adequate and effective protection at work for all.
