PROMOTING COMPLIANCE WITH FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES AND RIGHTS AT WORK THROUGHOUT THE REFORMS PROCESS IN UKRAINE

The project’s objective is to support the adoption of the new Labour Code and other pending pieces of labour legislation on occupational safety and health and equal pay improving their compliance with ILS and EU Acquis Communautaire. Key deliverables of the project are: 1) Technical comments on alignment of national legislation with International Labour Standards (ILS). 2) Recommendations on data collection, analysis, and reporting on ILS ratified by Ukraine. 3) Comprehensive online trainings for judges and labour law practitioners. The project contributes to the early recovery of Ukraine creating an environment where businesses can be rebuilt and thrive, and workers find decent job opportunities with social protection and labour rights safeguarded. The adoption of the new legislation shall be followed by a crucial period, featured by adaptation of secondary legislation and elaboration of new practices, enabling implementation of the latter. ILO support on the ILS is therefore critical at both the drafting and the implementation stages of the new law by provision of comparative law and practices. In addition, the project aims to adopt the revised national OSH legislation and the ratification of the national Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention (No. 187).
