Phase II - Targeting Women in Insurance
Although women around the globe have rising incomes and increased buying power, they remain an underserved community across financial services. Financial inclusion is an issue for both genders, however for many reasons, women are more excluded than men; with insurance, this is often referred to as the gender protection gap and it is pervasive across all socioeconomic groupings. Following a successful collaboration between the ILO and IFC to establish and convene the first year-long Community of Practice on insurance for Women over 2021 and 2022, this project continues with a second cohort over 2023 and 2024. The Partnership will continue to cocreate, innovate and extend the programme already started, focusing on activities in the short term that can help reduce the gender protection gap in the medium to long term. The mode of this collaboration will be through a series of activities, namely webinars, a Community of Practice, and knowledge management documentation.
