Better Work Revenue for Ethiopia

Better Work collects revenue from two sources, i.e. factories for core services (assessment, advisory and training) and brands (annual membership fee), to support Better Work operations. Better Work Ethiopia is part of the Advancing Decent Work and Inclusive Industrialization In Ethiopia/ONE ILO-SIRAYE programme. It works at national, regional and factory levels involving different ILO departments and key global programmes such as Better Work, Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE), Vision Zero Fund (VZF), the Administration, Labour Inspection and Occupational Safety and Health Branch (LABADMIN/OSH) and Inclusive Labour Markets, Labour Relations and Working Conditions Branch (INWORK) to address the key challenges to advance decent work in Ethiopia as one programme. Development objectives of ONE ILO-SIRAYE: • improved worker wellbeing in terms of income, safety, equality, rights, voice and representation • resilient, responsible and productive industry • enhanced industrial relations, social dialogue and labour administration • advanced institutional capacity of public and private sector partners to sustain programme interventions Better Work Ethiopia’s enterprise-level work focuses on achieving the outcomes that drive sustainable change, with a strong emphasis on fundamental principles and rights at work. The programme targets the underlying causes of persistent and structural compliance failings and works toward deeper improvement in management systems, social dialogue and workers’ engagement.
