Better Work Jordan Phase IV (USDOL)

The overall objective of the Better Work Jordan project, including through the funding provided by USDOL, is to achieve a competitive Jordanian garment industry built on stakeholder collaboration, which advances national socioeconomic development, lifts people out of poverty and upholds the fundamental rights of all workers. The outcomes of this project is aligned with the Phase IV strategy which places emphasis on stakeholder capacity building, growing the garment sector, and extending the positive effects beyond the Jordanian garment sector. BWJ has identified three Long Term Objectives to achieve this overall objective. LTO 1: Jordan has an effective tripartite-plus labor market governance in the garment industry, in which workers’ rights are upheld in line with national labor laws and core international labor standards. LTO 2: Increased employment of Jordanians in the garment sector. LTO 3: Improved working conditions and labor market governance beyond garment factories participating in the Better Work Jordan program.
