EU Support to improved Quality of VET Education (EU4 Employment and Education)

This Action aims at strengthening the capacities of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) to render Vocational Education and Training (VET) more responsive to labour market needs. This shall be reached by developing quality frameworks for occupations level 2-5 (standards and curricula), in particular through the development of occupational and qualification standards and through strengthening the capacities of VET teachers for digital training content creation for VET teaching and to effectively introduce young people to entrepreneurship training. VET in Bosnia and Herzegovina faces a series of structural deficits in effectively equipping young people with the technical skills, as well as the transversal, core skills that are needed on the labour market. The administrative division of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the resulting governance structure that stipulates a high degree of autonomy at different levels of government (entity, canton, district) makes it difficult to capitalise on common guidance principles. This goes to the detriment of the quality and labour market responsiveness of VET, the application of modern teaching methodologies and the promotion of employable core skills such as entrepreneurship skills, that would increase the chances of VET students in finding and maintaining decent jobs and progressing in their professional trajectories. To tackle these challenges, the Action works focusses on two different components: Component 1: Occupational and qualification standards Component 2: VET teacher training in digital and entrepreneurship training To reach the set results, the Action seeks to facilitate effective and sustainable institutional strengthening through awareness raising and capacity building, through working side by side with the concerned institutions and including them in decision making and through the development of action plans to ensure future sustainability.
