Road to Decent Jobs for All Phase 2

The Road to Decent Jobs for All phase II (R2DJ4All2) project aim to create safe and dignified employment in competitive and resilient value chains and create income earning opportunities mainly for women and girls and other vulnerable persons. The project will use a market system development approach to unlock binding constraints in handicrafts, carpets, food processing and other target sectors to ensure job and income earning opportunities. The project will design and implement both “push” and “pull” interventions. PUSH interventions are designed to build the capacity of the primary target group to be able to engage in the market. Such interventions will include entrepreneurship and vocational skills training, occupational health and safety and promotion of the elimination of child labour. Training in vocational skills would lead to either seeking employment or creating own-account employment. On the other hand, PULL interventions will be designed to create decent jobs and income earning opportunities for the target group. To this end, the project will partner with MSMEs to adopt MSD approaches and implement innovative business models that will improve access to finance, production assets, input markets and local and international output markets. The project will work with ILO social partners- Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) and National Union of Afghanistan Workers and Employees (NUAWE) to level the playing field and to ensure social justice is upheld to promote the Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work in Afghanistan and continue related advocacy efforts.
