Reinvestment- Gender in Labour Statistics
This project will build on the ILO-BMGF partnership across three areas: (i) Supporting capacity development efforts in-country for implementation of new standards to capture gendered aspects of informal and formal work (both paid and unpaid) and improving guidance and measurement as implementation starts. (ii) Improved data and evidence on care – measurement of unpaid and paid care workforce and integrating time-use questions into labour force surveys. (iii) Carrying out policy simulations and developing new indicators for measurement of gender gaps in labour market outcomes and assess how different policies can reduce them. This includes providing technical assistance and deepening partnerships with governments, academic researchers and other international agencies operating in Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) strategy priority countries to develop policy applications and use cases for the improved data. The goal is for the data to be used to improve policies and financing (domestic resource mobilization, public financial management, and donor funding) to accelerate women’s economic empowerment and gender equality. It will also capture and disseminate successes and lessons learned from applying the new measurement tools at scale, to support uptake across other countries.
