Skills for an environmentally sustainable transition in Moldova
Moldova suffers from a high dependence on fossil fuels from Russia and Ukraine, a lack of diversification and nationally produced energy in the sector, as well as increasing negative effects from climate change. The effective production of renewable energies, in particular in the solar and geothermic energy sector is currently constrained by the lack of qualified staff. The project contributes to reduce this labour shortage by equipping young and adult learners with skills qualifying them for job opportunities in the renewable energy sector. At system level to project contributes to the introduction of new and revised qualifications on renewable energies into the national qualification systems by developing occupational and qualification standards as well as curricula. This project seeks to initiate a systemic, structured process for creating know-how, approaches and tools, while seeking to promote multi-stakeholder governance by connecting the macro, meso- and micro-level. The action strives to address not only young people, but also adult population in a gender- and age-sensitive manner. Furthermore, the project shall contribute to better understanding the role of education for sustainable development among vocational education providers and the larger audience in the area of education at national level.
