Strengthening of social dialogue in the Republic of Serbia

The project seeks to strengthen the functioning of the Economic and Social Council, as well as the regulatory, institutional, and promotional framework for collective bargaining and dispute resolution in Serbia. To identify and address particular legal and implementation gaps in conducting effective tripartite and bipartite social dialogue, the project maps and analyses the current regulatory and institutional framework concerning social dialogue in Serbia, and the functioning thereof, which includes the comparative experiences from selected ILO member countries/EU member states. Successful completion of project activities will lead to improved collective bargaining of representative social partner organizations on all levels, which would contribute to better attainment of collective labour rights of workers and a stable and predictable working environment for employers. The project activities aim to improve harmonization of labour legislation with relevant International Labour Standards and related EU Acquis in the area of social dialogue, and in parallel to strengthen capacities of the state administration, national and local Economic and Social Councils and social partners.
