Promoting Fair and Ethical Recruitment in the Viet Nam – Japan Labour Migration Corridor
The “Promoting fair and ethical recruitment in the Vietnam-Japan Migration Corridor” project (FERI) focuses on the promotion of international labour standards and guidance on fair recruitment, and the capacity building of recruitment agencies and regulating agencies. FERI aims to create a responsible and collaborative framework among stakeholders in order to move towards the effective implementation of relevant international standards and guidelines on fair and ethical recruitment, especially removing recruitment fees and related costs for workers. The project’s strategy includes the promotion of international standards, and awareness building of national laws among recruitment agencies; building the capacity of regulators for effective oversight; support for the application of codes of conduct for private recruitment agencies and their capacity-building; awareness and empowerment of migrant workers; strengthening complaints mechanisms and support services to avail these; monitoring of recruitment costs; as well as data collection on workers’ recruitment experiences; and offering recommendations to stakeholders in migration origin countries/regions.
