ACT/EMP-ACTRAV Joint Programme on Enhanced capacity workers' organization and Employers and business membership organizations to promote and implement social and environmental policies and practices.
Enhanced capacity of workers’ organizations and employer and business membership organizations to promote and implement social and environmental policies and practices SDG targets: 8.3, 8.5, 8.8, 16.6, 16.7. This RBSA-funded programme aims to harness the full potential of employer and business membership organizations (EBMOs) and workers’ organizations and enable them to promote the policy and institutional environment necessary for the pursuit of sustainable economic, social and environmental development (as per paragraph 86 in the ILO’s Programme and Budget for 2024-25). It will also be instrumental in mobilizing resources to support the development of the institutional capacity of EBMOs and workers’ organizations. The programme is being implemented in: Africa (Eswatini, Morocco, Nigeria, Tanzania, Côte d’Ivoire, and Ghana); Arab States (Oman); Asia and the Pacific (Philippines, Vietnam, and India); Europe and Central Asia (Kazakhstan), and Latin America and the Caribbean (Bolivia, Honduras, Colombia, and Panama). The direct beneficiaries are EBMOs and their members, and national workers’ organizations and their members. The ultimate beneficiaries of the programme are companies operating in emerging markets, and young women and men facing challenges in the workplace related to inequalities of income and opportunities and to climate change. The expected results for EBMOs include an enhanced capacity to provide leadership and services on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues; to produce insights and advocate on sustainability and responsible business practices; and to engage in multi-stakeholder dialogues. For workers’ organizations, the expected results of this dedicated programme include an enhanced capacity to address youth employment issues, organize and include participation of youth in social dialogue processes; and to influence Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for just transition.
