Comply with Fundamental Rights at Work in Costa Rica
The ultimate outcome of this intervention is to improve and effective compliance with labor legislation, particularly those related to fundamental principles and rights at work. In this regard, it is important to note that Costa Rica has a solid national and international regulatory framework in this area. This constitutes an opportunity to develop strategies that can contribute to better compliance with existing regulations. To achieve this ultimate outcome, the work is based on two intermediate outcomes. The first one is “Improved implementation of strategies to ensure compliance by Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MTSS) and social partners” and the second is “Improved implementation of strategies for the reduction of barriers to gender inequalities and disadvantages at work by Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MTSS) and social partners”. The project outcomes are as follows: - Improved implementation of effective strategies to ensure compliance with OSH regulations, by the MTSS, workers’ and employers’ organizations in Costa Rica. - Improved capacities of the labour inspectorate to enforce compliance with labour legislation related to fundamental principles and rights at work, based on the results of the evaluation that will be finalized in early 2024. - Improved capacity of the MTSS, workers’ and employers’ organizations to promote equity in the workplace, in particular among vulnerable workers in female-dominated occupations or sectors. -Improved capacity of the labour inspectorate to better protect vulnerable workers in female-dominated occupations or sectors
